About the Course
As taught at the University of Cape Town, this module includes other relevant aspects of electronic transactions not included in this OER such as:
- Information security
- Intercepting and monitoring communications
- Online defamation and other online delicts
- Protection of personal information
- Jurisdiction & evidence
- Online crime
- Intellectual property
The module is delivered over 30 hours in either a block teaching format or weekly seminars spread over twelve weeks. Seminars are typically discursive in nature and students work through class exercises in most sessions. These exercises are directed at policy debates, evaluation of the law and solving given factual scenarios.
In addition to these face-to-face seminars, students need to dedicate a significant amount of time to reading the prescribed materials.
